Betsy Gram is a ceramic artist living in Brooktondale, NY with her husband and six-year-old son. In addition to being a studio artist, she also teaches classes at The Clay School in Ithaca. Betsy discovered her love of clay during high school and went on to earn her BFA in Ceramics from Penn State University in 1999. Her ceramic pieces are hand-built, made of mid-range stoneware clay, and fired in oxidation. Straddling the line between functional and decorative, Betsy’s work has an organic and whimsical feel, with ornate surfaces hand-painted with multiple layers of underglaze.
